STARGAZEY BLOCKS & SAMPLERZ

Stargazey block patterns are my signature way of
piecing (generally) pictorial blocks in a controlled free-form
manner. Simply put it means we’ll have template
free fun whilst rotary cutting and machine piecing.
Samplerz classes use two or more Stargazey block patterns to tell a story.
In these classes we work through each block in turn, learning
about their differences, intricacies and techniques. We’ll
continue on stitching, experimenting and building a block story
and aiming for a quilt top. Make a landscape, a sampler,
a row by row, a medallion quilt or a set of cushions perhaps? Quilt
size and settings are unlimited.
A great confidence builder or an invitation to work more freely.
Classes can be packed full of demos and learning with three patterns
per day or more project based, with one or two patterns per day.
Extra days can be added to these classes to work on settings, machine
quilting and finishing.

SAMPLERZ #1
- Country Housez
Here’s a mixed meal of five Stargazey pictorial blocks
to serve up just about any way we see fit.
Housez, Treez, Daisiez, Slender Starz and Butterfliez are the focus patterns.

SAMPLERZ #2 - Ten Minutes for Tea by Jan
Mullen
The Teapotz pattern gets joined with Cuppaz and the party
starts! We’ll learn how to make three blocks - Cuppaz,
Teapotz and Hugz (Platez) - then perhaps modify these patterns
to make stackz, mugz, jugz and sugar bowls. With time we may
even add to the table with cup cakez, cutlery or whatever
sets the mood.
1 or 2 day workshops
Day 1 - intro to Cuppaz & Teapotz blocks. If the class
is for a single day the three blocks can be shown
Day 2 - intro to the Hugz (Platez) block, blocks are well
underway, variations and extras introduced on demand, students
to work on individual setting.

SAMPLERZ #3 - All A-buzz in the Great
Outdoorz
Here five Stargazey pictorial blocks get to Buzz around
outside. Beez, Ladybirdz, Daisiez, Leavez and Butterfliez
are the focus patterns.

SAMPLERZ #4 - Prezziez Advent Calendar
Two Stargazey patterns containing three blocks combine to
make a lovely advent calendar or a simple Christmas Quilt.
Xmas Treez and Spikey Starz are a great combo whilst the Prezziez
block transforms into a pocket.
Variations are easy - prefer the Angelz to Xmas Treez and
we can substitute. Slender Starz not Spikey? Fine, just decide
on the changes and let me know.
1 or 2 day workshop.

if a one day class)

SAMPLERZ #5 - Girlz Stuff
Got the collecting bug? Here's the solution if it is Girls'
Stuff you crave! Using the wonderfully versatile Handbagz,
Hatz and Shoez patterns, then perhaps throwing in a few extra
accessoriez, your acquisitive desires can be controlled and
you can create a wardrobe to order.
The Handbagz handles are appliqued, by hand or machine, any
way you choose. Embellishments of bows, rosettes and buttons
add to the fun.
The other 'girly' patterns Glovez & Specz and Dressez
can also be included in this class if desired.
1 or 2 day workshops.
Day 1 - intro to Shoez & Handbagz blocks. For a one day
class Hatz may also be introduced.
Day 2 - intro to the Hatz block and embellishments, blocks
are well underway, variations and extras introduced on demand,
work on individual settings.

SAMPLERZ #6 - Catz & Other Critterz
Simply put you are either a cat lover or dog obsessed.
Here we take the Catz blocks and place them in an outdoor setting. Using either
or all of Beez, Daisiez, Ladybirdz and Butterfliez patterns we work through
each block in turn, learning about their differences, intricacies and techniques.
Then it is time to create quilts of any size and with great variations in
style.
Prefer Dogz to Catz? Just let me know and we can change
the title!

SAMPLERZ #7 - Dogz & Horsez grab forty
winkz
Dogz in their Kennelz, Horsez in the Stablez, fed and tuckered
out. Peace!
Here we use Dogz, Hobby Horsez and Leavez patterns. Extra
unpublished haybalez and stablez are also included.
2 or 3 day workshop.
