All Piled Up Quilt Instructions
QUILT SIZE: 21” x 26 1/2” (53cm x 67cm)
BLOCKS
Make one 8” x 16” Xmas Treez block, trim to 8 1/2”
x 16 1/2”.
Make five 4” Prezziez and four 6” Prezziez blocks. Do not
trim to size.
TREEZ SECTION
Cut two pieces of background fabric each 6 3/4” x 16 1/2”.
Stitch to the sides of the Xmas Treez block.
PREZZIEZ PILE
Stitch the Prezziez together in two, 6” x 21” rows.
The top row is made of the 4” blocks and the bottom row of 6”
blocks.
Top row; It is necessary to attach background filler pieces to the top
or bottom of each of these blocks to bring them to row height. We chose
to gently round these Prezziez to give the impression of a pile. They
were then stitched together and end fillers added to make row length.
We used our ‘overlap cut’ to remove straight lines (see the
Samplerz series for a full explanation) but straight trims work fine.
Bottom row; Trim and join these blocks to make row width and height. Again
we used the ‘overlap cut’ but it is not essential.
Join the three sections.
FINISHING/QUILTING
Sandwich.
Machine quilt around the Xmas Treez, tinsel, Prezziez and ribbonz in the
ditch. We free machine quilted circles surrounding the prezziez pile and
double stitched curly horizontal lines behind the Xmas Treez
Bind and label.
Each Prezziez block was given a button and the tree was finished with
a yellow ‘Stargazey Quilts Star Button’ and a black button
to complete decorations.
Bind and label.
