Tartanz

Tartanz Display and Merchandising

DISPLAY AREA
* Have a specific area to display for full impact. The sample should be the focus. It may be the shop window, it may be at store entry as a welcome display, a well lit back corner to pull customers all the way to the back of the store or it could be near the counter to encourage spenders to be more inspired. Make sure it is well lit!

*offer colour co-ordinated starter packs of fabrics for each pattern instead of or as well as specific kits. Offer them either in the pattern colours or your sample colours.

DISPLAY IDEAS
*Colour based display;
e.g. RED (or your sample’s background colour). Collect and group all the red notions, haby, threads, buttons and gift lines you can find. Big. little, old, new, for sale or not, just raid your shop, house, and all those cupboards. Think differently - cans of tomato products are rather red!
I’ve done this in shop windows and it works wonderfully.

*Flannel based display. Group flannels in colour families to co-ordinate with your sample or mine. This will work especially well if you make up our small project, which is flannel, or if you make a couple of blocks simply to inspire customers.

*Plaid based display. This quilt is a plaid quilt - however quirky. Gather all things plaid or all things Scottish - as long as the colours can be worked together cohesively.

*Graphic display - this quilt is all about grids. Work this look in with linear props - both vertical and horizontal.
- Maybe ribbons stretched across your display area if you use gelati or pastel colours in your sample? A pretty little girls quilt and display is required here.
-Think about gridlock - perhaps you need matchbox cars running around in your display? You can get some good ‘boy’ things happening here. It can be a great masculine quilt if you use ‘boy’ colours.

*We have some ‘Freebiez’ leaflets available promoting Tartanz and Retro Rhythmz fabric. Email Sally, sally@stargazey.com for a class set or for counter give-aways. It is also available as a free download here.

USING OTHER QUILT STORE MERCHANDISE IN YOUR DISPLAY
*Cutting equipment, long rulers and 12” square rulers are necessary here.

*Plaids. Stack all your checks and plaids, woven or printed.

*If you follow the colour theme idea all your notions, haby etc. will be already incorporated into your display.

FABRIC PACKS
1. Fat quarter packs are also a great starter and easy to cut, sell and display. Include different amounts to suit different pockets and projects; 5 of each, 10 of each, 10/5 split etc.
TRY; red and mixed bright fabrics
or flannel fabrics

2. Packets of 12” squares for backgrounds

3. Packets of 12” background squares, stacked flat, with fat quarter rolls of contrasting ‘strip’ fabrics rolled and attached ‘woven’ on top.
