Pencilz
Pencilz Display and Merchandising
DISPLAY AREA
* Have a specific area to display for full impact. It may be
the shop window, it may be at store entry as a welcome display,
a well lit back corner to pull customers all the way to the back
of the store or it could be near the counter to encourage spenders
to be more inspired. Make sure it is well lit!
*offer colour co-ordinated starter packs of fabrics for each pattern
instead of or as well as specific kits. Offer them either in the
pattern colours or your sample colours.
DISPLAY IDEAS
*Back to School theme.
Transform a set of Pencilz blocks into pencil cases, chair and library
bags.
*Stationery Theme; Quilters Writing sets, notebooks etc.
*Children's Deco; Display kid sized tables and chairs under your
Pencilz sample to grab attention.
*Budding Artist Theme;
For the kids- packs of brightly coloured construction paper, scissors,
erasers, rulers, pencils
Matching sets for mum - brightly coloured same sized charm square
packs, fabric scissors, erasers, quilters ruler, and fabric pencils
(Berol).
*Every staff member should, of course, be wearing a pencil over
their ear!
USING OTHER QUILT STORE MERCHANDISE IN YOUR DISPLAY
*Quilters Rulers, scissors, markers and erasers - the quilters
kit. Bundle sets together for Beginners gift packs - presented in
the PVC zippered bags they would follow the theme perfectly.
*Graph paper - the jumbo variety looks very covetable even for
those of us who like to be free.
*Tape measures. There are lots of types, lengths and colours. Pile
them up or string them across your display like bunting. Dont
forget the special gift tapes in beautiful containers.
*Marking pens -different colours for different children perhaps.
Pigma pens or other permanent markers are great
*Patterns for art smocks, fabric to suit. Make one up with a pencils
block as the pocket.
*Send away for the Freebiez Growth Chart leaflet and display these
with rolls of pre-cut batting tied with the tape measure. Tuck in
a Pigma pen for recording names, heights and dates.
FABRIC PACKS
1. Fat quarter packs are also a great starter and easy to cut,
sell and display. Include different amounts to suit different pockets
and projects; 5 of each, 10 of each, 10/5 split etc.
TRY; blacks and coloureds
or rainbow selection
2. Rainbow packs of fat eigths for the bodyz with their accompanying
solids
for the leads. Have a loose array of neutrals for the wood. Roll
them up in groups or individually.
3. Proportionally correct packs would do well. Perhaps concentrate
on the 8 block size as it is used in the pattern sample.
Cut and pack together in order:
lead = 6 x 1/4 bolt width
wood = 6 x 1/4 bolt width
body = 6 x bolt width,
bag or wrap in cellophane
Arrange profuse amounts of these near your sample and copies of
the pattern.
