Deb’s Growing Together Quilt Instructions

BLOCKS
Make:
Three 8" Daisiez blocks, trim each to 9" square.
Sixteen 4" 'on point' Leavez, trim each to ½" square.
Six 6" 'straight' Leavez, trim each to 6 ½" x 4 ½"
Two 6" 'straight' Ladybirdz, trim each to 6 ½" square.
Three 6" 'on point' Ladybirdz, trim each to 6 ½" square.
One 6" 'on point' Ladybirdz, with mixed green backgrounds, trim to 6 ½" square.

Arrange these in position on your design wall, as per the photo, and working from the top down, join the blocks using the background fabrics as gap fillers.

LEFT STALK
for the Daisiez:
-stitch on two side fillers 2 ½" x 9"
-then a top filler 13" x 4 ½"

for the left side:
-stitch together three 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a side filler 2 ½" x 12 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'on point' Ladybirdz
-stitch on a bottom filler 6 ½" x 2 ½"

for the right side:
-stitch together two 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a top filler 4 ½" x 2 ½"
plus a side filler 2 ½" x 10 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez
-stitch on a 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a side filler 2 ½" x 4 ½"
-stitch on a bottom filler 6 ½" x 2 ½"

Stitch the stalk, 1" x 20 ½", in between the left and right sides.
Stitch on the Daisiez.

CENTRAL STALK
for the Daisiez:
-stitch on two side fillers 2 ½" x 9"

for the left side:
-stitch together two 4" 'on point Leavez' plus a top filler 4 ½" x 2 ½"
plus a side filler 2 ½" x 10 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Ladybirdz
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez

for the right side:
-stitch together three 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a bottom filler 4 ½" x 2 ½"
plus a side filler 2 ½" x 14 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez
-stitch on a 6" 'on point' Ladybirdz

Stitch the stalk, 1" x 24 ½", in between the left and right sides.
Stitch on the Daisiez.

RIGHT STALK
for the Daisiez:
-stitch on two side fillers 2 ½" x 9"
-then a top filler 13" x 2 ½"

for the left side:
-stitch together two 4" 'on point Leavez' plus a side filler 2 ½" x 8 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Ladybirdz
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez
-stitch together a 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a side filler 2 ½" x 4 ½"

for the right side:
-stitch together two 4" 'on point' Leavez plus a top filler 4 ½" x 2 ½"
plus a side filler 2 ½" x 10 ½"
-stitch on a 6" 'straight' Leavez
-stitch on a 6" 'on point' Ladybirdz
-stitch on a bottom filler 6 ½" x 2 ½"

Stitch the stalk, 1" x 22 ½", in between the left and right sides.
Stitch on the Daisiez.

Stitch all three sections together.

GROUND
Cut six green fabrics each 10" x 5 ½".
Stack them face up. Make three slices at varying angles through all layers.
Switch the fabrics between the layers, keeping the rectangles intact.
Stitch the mixed rectangles back together.
Lay out the blocks to balance colour with the top section.
Stitch the final Ladybirdz block in between two rectangles.
Stitch the rectangles together then trim to 38".
Stitch on to the daisiez section.

FINISHING/QUILTING
Sandwich.
Machine quilt in the ditch around the Daisiez, Leavez, Ladybirdz and ground.
Free machine quilt butterflies, ladybirds, bees, dragonflies and swirls in the backgrounds.
Bind and label.
