Heartz Teaching Notes
* These blocks are meant to have backgrounds that are a little
crazy. Some students love the effect of adding slivers of different
colours or prints in, others prefer a crisper look, and there are
always students that are in a hurry! For those ‘non craziez’
encourage them to cut their backgrounds for the next size up.
*With simple designs like these, colour becomes very important.
My sample uses two fabrics for each heart with some dominating and
others receding. They glow because of this. Help students choose
their outcome then work the fabrics to suit. It may simply be a
matter of reordering placement in the heartz or the backgrounds.
*Everyone's heartz will be a little different. Some are squat and
blocky, others are tall and finer. Make students aware that it is
the placement of the backgrounds that defines the heart shape and
that the placement can be tweaked to produce a different result.
