Daisiez
Daisiez Display and Merchandising
DISPLAY AREA
* Have a specific area to display for full impact. It may be the
shop window, it may be at store entry as a welcome display, a well
lit back corner to pull customers all the way to the back of the
store or it could be near the counter to encourage spenders to be
more inspired. Make sure it is well lit!
*offer colour co-ordinated starter packs of fabrics for each pattern
instead of or as well as specific kits. Offer them either in the
pattern colours or your sample colours.
DISPLAY IDEAS
*bring out the fake daisiez, sunflowers and gerberas.
*bring in pots of real daisiez, sunflowers and gerberas.
*Visit the Hardware store and borrow picket fences, flower pots
and gardening equipment for a spring garden theme.
*Fill empty clean flower pots with rolls of fabric. A row of these
each holding a specific colorway would be very effective.
*Line up a few wheelbarrows, layer them with clean and dry moss
or straw and pile up your fabric packs.
USING OTHER QUILT STORE MERCHANDISE IN YOUR DISPLAY
*There are lots of Quilt books, leaflets and patterns that are
garden themed. Make a display with your Daisiez sample as the the
focus
*Floral fabrics, particularly the larger and more contemporary
designs follow the theme. Use appropriate fabrics for quilt borders
or backings
*The gift market is always offering fresh daisy based designs
- grab a few graphic items to enhance your display and fill your
till
*Stargazey Quilts Recipez series is a great way to advertise the
Daisiez pattern in maker friendly items. Cushion Recipez and Shopping
Bag Recipez both feature Daisiez blocks on the front.
FABRIC PACKS
1. Fat quarter packs are also a great starter and easy to cut, sell
and display. Include different amounts to suit different pockets
and projects; 5 of each, 10 of each, 10/5 split etc.
TRY: pink and yellow fabrics
or pink and green fabrics
2. Roll up six small pieces of fabrics e.g.. fat eighths. Hold
them with a rubber band around their centre then wrap in between
each of the six divisions to make your own daisiez!
3. Put together some gardeners packs - Daisiez appropriate fabrics
plus gardening gloves, seed packets and/or tools
4. Present a bouquet of Daisiez fabrics wrapped up in tissue and/or
cellophane.
Try wrapping squares of fabrics (12”?) with pipe cleaners
or florists wire. Grab the centre and corners of the square and
start wrapping a few inches down. The pipe cleaner becomes the stalk
whilst the centre of the square can be manipulated to look ‘floral’.
