Beez & Hivez
Beez & Hivez Display and Merchandising
DISPLAY AREA
* Have a specific area to display for full impact. It may be the
shop window, it may be at store entry as a welcome display, a well
lit back corner to pull customers all the way to the back of the
store or it could be near the counter to encourage spenders to be
more inspired. Make sure it is well lit!
*offer colour co-ordinated starter packs of fabrics for each pattern
instead of or as well as specific kits. Offer them either in the
pattern colours or your sample colours.
DISPLAY IDEAS
*Chicken wire, with its honeycomb pattern is ideal as a backdrop
- paint it, paper-mache lightly with honey coloured tissue paper
and use it to display your spare beez blocks and other product.
*honey/beeswax coloured fabric poked through the back of the chicken
wire would look great
*Honeycomb beeswax sheets could be hung as a patchwork backdrop
or manipulated to hold Bee buttons, threads etc.
*Find other bee related fabrics, patterns, and books. Even reference/gardening
books opened to display fancy hives will add to the atmosphere
*Think of adding some gift lines to sell;
jars of honey and bee products piled high,
beeswax candles,
bee sting medications
there are plenty of bee balm/toiletries to be found
USING OTHER QUILT STORE MERCHANDISE IN YOUR DISPLAY
*Think of related techniques e.g. Beez would look great with hexagon
borders so sell the english piecing papers
*Black and yellow threads and buttons are obvious choices
FABRIC PACKS
1. Fat quarter packs are also a great project starter and easy to
cut, sell and display. Include different amounts to suit different
pockets and projects; 5 of each, 10 of each, 10/5 split etc.
TRY; black and yellow fabrics
or sky fabrics and grass fabrics
2. Cut charm packs;
nine 10 squares of logz fabrics, the tenth is a solid black
for the door
3. Roll fat eighths of tail stripez fabrics and have them sitting
amongst black body and wingz fabric rolls
