you generally need to bring just fabric, threads, & your sewing machine

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS needed in class to make it just like mine;
Foundation: cotton batting to total 16" x 45"
Teal fabric: 20" x 57" for the background
Assorted green fabrics: .7m total for stalk and leaves
Pink fabrics: fat eighth total for petals – scraps are fine
Yellow fabric: 8" x 8" for face
White striped fabric: 3" x 57" for the height recorder
NEEDED LATER
Batting, backing, appliqué thread, stitching/quilting thread,
Embroidery floss, buttons

machine quilting- beginning
PLEASE BRING
Sewing machine, with free machining capabilities and accessories, in good working order - you won’t succeed with a machine of insufficient standard!
A quilting or darning foot to fit your machine.
A walking foot if you have one.
Thread - poly cotton to match your fabrics and /or decorative

FABRIC SUGGESTIONS
You will need to come with one (or two) ‘collage kits’ that you have prepared. This fused sandwich is easy to prepare and means we don’t need pins to start with. An example of this five layer quilt sandwich is listed below;
layer 1 - backing (fat quarter of patchwork cotton, perhaps a wild print)
layer 2 - fat quarter of fusible web (vliesofix) OR use quilt basting spray
layer 3 - fat quarter of cotton batting
layer 4 - fat quarter of fusible web (vliesofix) OR use quilt basting spray
layer 5 - top layer of pieced fabrics or odd scraps to cover the fusible or another fat quarter (choose two of the three choices)
Fuse all layers together and you are ready to work!
We can supply these if needed for $25.

SEWING REQUIREMENTS
(guideline only, dependant on your design)
Sewing machine in good working order
Tiny sharp fabric scissors (I use cheap thread clippers).
Sewing threads.
Thread for reverse applique - I suggest stranded cottons
Small safety pins, 30-50 approx.
Needles, pins & thimble
fusible web (vliesofix)

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Use as a guide, bringing more, less, or different as desired.
Top Layer - fat quarter
Secret Layer - small scraps to contrast with the secret layer
Border - small scraps to coordinate with the top layer
Batting - fat quarter of cotton batting
