STUDIO CLASSES - SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER 2007

This is the final class list for the year. As I have a couple of trips coming up there are only a couple of classes to round the year off. Probably almost time for you to hunker down and concentrate on finishing current projects and making pressies for deserving friends and family also.

I’m slowly getting the time to orchestrate the production of some of this year’s class notes. “Dark Nightz” - the ‘tie’ quilt that is on my bed -is the first set finished and is available, only from the studio at the moment, for the usual price of $15.40. More projects and technical sets will follow slowly.

Next year’s first class list will be uploaded sometime in February for classes starting March/ April. I have a varied array of quilts/projects planned to stitch over summer that I am really looking forward to starting. If you have and overlocker, an embellisher, like wool, like scraps and like cakes you will be well catered for. As my travel plans generally are minimal I am also considering bringing back the eight week beginners course that I ran for many years - it is still the best way to learn the basics fast. If you are interested feel free to let me know what night suits. It is also a great class for experienced gals.

On the home front, we’ve sold ours despite our renovations here still non existant. Curses of appropriate frustration eminate as we wait and wait and wait for the building license. Planning approval only took four months (not the estimated 2-3 weeks) so who knows? Christmas in a tent is looking likely... no big deal I guess - I can hand stitch anywhere!

Jan
P.S. ‘Running with a Sandwich” has 12 new cards including four for Xmas - for once I can say I have christmas cards organised before December. Go to <runningwith.com> to see and BUY!

GROW DAISY GROW

I’ve been making a second sample of this project from “Free & Eazy Circlez” as the first one holidays O/S, and thought it would be a beaut one night class. The project is a growth chart but you can make whatever you want using the technique. Applique by hand or machine.
Kits will be available on request.

tuesday night - september 11 $50

(go to requirements)

FINISH IT

Bring a project started in class and get a move on with it! Jan will be there to advise, the design wall is waiting and hopefully your binding will be getting closer.....
wednesday night - september 12 $25

MACHINE QUILTIING - BEGINNING

My quilting style is different from most - with individual motifs worked freely it is really like drawing with the needle. Starting with perfect sandwich preparation you’ll aim to meld body with machine to get quality stitches, then develop motifs that suit your style. Come to learn new skills or hone existing ones.

tuesday night - october 9 $50

(go to requirements)

MACHINE QUILTING - DESIGN & REFINE

I recently spent time as one of the judges at QuiltWest. Whilst there were some wonderful machine quilted works there were also many quilts whose quilting design did not enhance the piecing. This class is for those of you who can quilt but need help in refining style and technique.

Bring your finished quilts or quilt tops to discuss (good or bad, it all helps - don’t be shy). Bring a sandwiched quilt or blocks to work on (although this will only be a small part of the night).

Class notes will include a CD of my quilting designs.

tuesday night - october 16 $50

(go to requirements)

REVERSING WITH ‘L’ PLATES

This class is an introduction to working Reverse Applique in Stargazey Style where we cut through a top layer of fabric to expose a -usually- scrap pieced ‘fabric’ underneath.
We’ll discuss a multitude of styles, techniques, possibilities and applications before starting to work on a small project or two. On the first night we will concentrate on doing the applique by hand, on the second week we will look at doing it by machine. Use your design or mine. .
Scrap kits available $38.50
Specimen Daisy kits available $75

wednesday nights - october 10 & 17 $50per night for two nights

Need help to get started on a project, work out problems or learn
specific skills or techniques? Book an hour with Jan for an intensive

GROUP CLASSES

Got a few friends who want to make the same quilt or learn the same skills? Get a group together, choose your class, then choose your time - day or night.
