We try to keep our current catalogue
in great shape. In doing so we have to shed a bit of bulk. We
are more than sad to see these go but space is at a premium. You

Applez
An apple a day keeps the doctor away....An apple for the
teacher.
Bobbing for apples....Toffee apples....Adam and Eve....Snow
White....A fruitful abundance of images abound to make use
of this block. Let your imagination loose!
I’ve designed three sizes of Applez - 4”, 6”
and 8” blocks. They all have a stalk but you then have
the choice of adding one or two leavez to give your applez
that fresh picked look. Piecing is easy with no matching of
points and no perfect quarter inch seams necessary.
Apples come in various colours, red, green and golden but
it would be easy to change the colours and the pattern name
by simply thinking of the neighbours in the fruit bowl. Anyone
for Plumz or Peachez? |

Orangez & Lemonz
The sweet fresh fragrance of citrus fruit fills these blocks.
Orangez & Lemonz are derived from the traditional Kaleidoscope
block but made much easier, Stargazey Style, with a stack,
slice, switch and sew process. Set your worries aside, you
need not be a master of precision, the centre points meeting
exactly is not a big issue.
Block sizes are 6”, 8” & 10”. The
blocks, Lemon Halvez and Orange Quarterz, both follow the
same process initially in forming the fruit - their backgrounds
though are treated a little differently. As a bonus I also
give you instructions for an altered version of the Orange
Quarterz, seen set as border units in my sample quilt.
Not inclined towards citrus? Think other fruit, cake, pizza
slices, umbrellas, beach balls or simply whacky colour combos
to bring this Vitamin C filled block back to it’s Kaleidoscope
origins.
Hope your appetite is whetted! |

Pencilz
When I was young one of my most precious possessions was my Derwent 64's. A palette
of pencils in dazzling array of colour, they were so beautiful as a collection
that it seemed a shame to sharpen them.
The pencilz collection that I offer you is just as covetable. I provide you with
the facility to make individual pencilz, then prompt you to work them into a
quilt in various ways. I show you how they can be slotted vertically into a square
block and how they join beautifully with no gaps to make filled blocks or a long
border as I've done here. Laying one pencil over another sets us off in yet another
direction. We also have a 'fan' corner setting!
There are three sizes to work with; 6", 8" and 10"
pencilz. Their construction, in the usual Stargazey style of
relaxed cutting and stitching is not daunting either.
I've used a rainbow collection of tone-on-tone fabrics, (my Starz fabrics), to
great effect in my sample, but stripes, spots and colourful prints will work
brilliantly too.
Oh, and I still have my Derwents!

Sawtooth Starz
Most of us start off in quiltmaking with a love of traditional
geometric patterns. I am no exception, but my desire to turn
quiltmaking a bit skew means its time now to turn back
to the old favorites. Churn Dashez was but the beginning, now
here come the Starz!
As is often the case with my Stargazey patterns there will be
no templates, simple cutting and stitching and unusual methods.
Each block you make will be unique and as crooked as you wish.
Relax and design your quilt to suit you - the sample is only
the starting point. I give you the recipe for 4,
5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 blocks as merely
the base to create from.
My sample utilizes only the 8 block but adds a crooked
squares border for extra zing. Choose a different size,
different borders, combine sizes or combine this with another
block. Fabrics may be mixed like mine or based on a single favourite.
Fill your next quilt with starz!

Churn Dashez
Starting off my line of skewed traditional block quilts with
an innovative way to achieve them. Choose from 4'", 5",
6", 8", 9", & 10" blocks. Work in reverse,
cutting into a full background square to make them crooked easily. |
|

Neck Tiez, Bow Tiez
This one is for your man. Two blocks in three sizes, 4",
5", and 6". I can't wait to make a full bow tiez as
I have only used this block in borders so far. The tiny neck
tiez are special too. |

|

Kitez
This pattern contains two blocks, the Kitez block and a Tail
block. Cutting and piecing is in my usual template free and
crooked style. Block sizes for both the kitez and tailz are
10'', 8'', 6'' and the tiny 4''. The tailz blocks are rectangular,
their lengths are planned to be double their width.
These would be wonderful set in a myriad of ways; floating freely
heavenward, medallion style with intermittent tail borders or
simply a bold graphic mix of blocks and tailz in a grid like
setting. |

Needlez & Threadz
The humble but decorative cotton reel block is rewarded with
a Stargazey make over, goes deliciously 'crooked', and is renamed
Threadz. It's teamed here with some Needlez to continue the
sewing theme, then topped off with a lovely Stitchez border
to tie everything together.
No set in seams, as in the traditional version, no templates,
just basic cutting from squares and rectangles in Stargazey
loose methods. Block sizes for both are 4", 6" and 8", but the
Needlez are made as rectangles. |

|

Sealed with Love & Kissez
My obsession with Xs continues in Sealed with Love &
Kissez.
I give you a less scrappy version of Stargazey Heartz teamed
here with my kissez block in 4, 6, and 8 sizes.
They are both easily cut from squares and rectangles in true
Stargazey style, then stitched with ease. Each will be just
a little different.
Ive also included a quilted envelope that holds the quilt
for traveling or storage. When the quilt is in use, insert the
envelope with a pillow for your honey to rest their head on.
Make up your version in different sized blocks, use a different
setting and choose colours to suit your favored recipient.
Great to make for a loved one in your life. |
|

Tartanz
This is one of the easier Stargazey patterns. It will still
introduce you to new techniques, is easily cut and pieced to
create unique crooked blocks but is basically just a grand load
of splitting and restitching!
I have designed six different 10 blocks, varying in complexity.
My sample contains all six blocks, but it is also stunning made
by repeating only one block and thinking of the strips as woven
threads. I guarantee no two quilts will look alike with permutations
of colour, fabric, block style and setting making the possibilities
truly endless.
This quilt would be great for the man in your life or just lovely
draped over the family room couch. Colours can be bright like
mine, based on traditional tartans, or even delicious in gelati
colours for a young gal. |
